A Cool New Way for Artists to Donate to Charity Using Their Talents

Written by Nerissa Staggers

A new company called ProBueno, lets you give back using the best way you know how, your talent. The founders of ProBueno, who are all MIT grads, came up with a creative fund raising technique enabled by technology. Their mission is to make it possible for anyone to make a difference. They encourage you to think of what you’re good at and offer those services to anyone who will make a donation. All you need is a talent and someone else donates to your favorite charity on your behalf. It’s a simple concept.

“We developed ProBueno because we realized how difficult it was to make a difference for the causes we cared about. We could not write a large enough check, or drop everything to volunteer. We felt there should be an easier way for people to use their talents for good.” –Co-founder, Ryan Kabir via TechCrunch

Here’s how ProBueno works:

  1. Find your favorite non-profit (we have over 1.2 million in our system)
  2. Tell us what talents you would be willing to offer (it can be anything)
  3. Share your offer with your friends and ask them to share with their friends
  4. When someone wants your help (it can be anyone), they make a donation using their credit card on the ProBueno website
  5. We notify you so that you can work out the logistics of where and when (most of the time, it happens via the phone or video-conference)
  6. You help them, and we make sure the donation makes it to your favorite charity
